EMILY KOUSTAE (Cyprus)

is founding principal of KOMA. She received her Diploma in Architecture from the University of Patras (Greece, 2012) and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University (New York, 2014). Prior to co-founding KOMA ARCHITECTS, she worked for over 10 years as an Associate Architect for GF55 Architects in New York City, where she developed an expertise in residential architecture through collaborating and leading multiple residential projects of different scales.

Emily’s work has been published and exhibited in cities such as New York, Venice and Barcelona, and has been recognized with a number of awards, including The William Kinne Fellows Travel Prize (New York, 2014), and The Greek and Cypriot State Scholarship Foundation for Academic Performance and Excellence (Greece, 2013).

ANDRES MACERA (Chile)

is founding principal of KOMA. He is an Architect from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Chile, 2001) and Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University (New York, 2014). Prior to co-founding KOMA, he worked as a Senior Architect for Diller Scofidio + Renfro in New York City (2015-2023), and co-founded Dolly, a practice focused on architecture for television (2003-2013). He has been adjunct professor at Columbia University (New York, 2014-2015), visiting professor at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Chile, 2005-2007, 2016), Multimedia Representation professor at Universidad Finis Terrae (Chile, 2007-2013), and Invited Instructor at Universidad de Las Américas (2010, 2016) and Universidad de Talca (Chile, 2010).

Andrés has lectured in cities such as Santiago, Valparaíso, San Juan de Puerto Rico and New York. His previous work spans dissimilar territories such as Antarctica and the Caribbean, and has been recognized with awards such as The William Kinne Fellows Travel Prize (New York, 2014), the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize (New York, 2014), First Prize for the Mutek Nation Competition (Valparaíso, 2004), AIA Honor Mention for the Design Competition for the Annex to the Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico (San Juan, 2003) and the Federico Santa María Honor Medal Award (Valparaíso, 2001). He is a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship (Santiago, 2013) and a Scholarship from the Commission for Scientific and Technological Research - CONICYT (Santiago, 2013).
